Did you see my post about baby mugging (you can check it out here)? Overly cute photos of what looked like babies sitting in mugs were popping up all over the internet a while ago.
Everyone I’ve shared this craze with has been greatly amused by it, as I am! But now I’ve noticed a new take on this type of baby photography taking the internet by storm. Introducing…
Suited and booted and ready to face another busy day at the home office, these babies mean business! As a family photographer I always love to see new takes on baby photography in particular; you can always rely on the contents of the photo being especially cute!
Like the baby mugging trend, baby suiting was instigated by American blogger Ilana from www.mommyshorts.com. This time it all started with a photo of Ilana’s baby nephew showing off his dad’s suit to the Instagram world.
Ilana’s photo provoked followers to recreate the shot with their own little ones and now similar images are on every newsfeed across the globe! Just search for the hashtag #babysuiting on your social networks and enjoy the inescapable joy that you will feel when you see the photos!
Ilana has made it extra easy for you and your little one to try baby suiting out for yourselves, by providing these simple instructions:
1) Grab a button down shirt, suit jacket and tie. Put the shirt inside the jacket, the tie around the collar and lie it on the floor.
2) Grab your baby (I recommend an immobile one) and lie him/her in the suit.
3) Whisper sweet nothings as you fasten the buttons, tie the tie and carefully arrange the jacket. (It’s like a swaddle!)
4) Stand up, take a photo (torso up) and post it!
The results are just hilarious, and it’s not only been suits and ties that the babies have appeared in; I’ve seen one little guy in an aviator’s jacket! I wonder if the trend will go further and we’ll start seeing daddies in onesies next to their little ones in suits!
Unlike baby mugging, I’m not sure baby suiting emphasises the adorable littleness of the babies. At least the hilarity of the photos does remind us that adulthood is far off for our lovely little ones and we still have plenty of time with them to enjoy yet! Anyway, get your babies suited and booted for a laugh and a half today!
