Medieval baby names are the new black

Medieval baby names are the new black

Sage Moonblood Stallone.

Apple Martin.

Destry Spielberg.

Jermajesty Jackson.

You might think that these celebrity baby names are pretty crackers and…well…you’d be right.

But the latest new trend in baby names certainly rivals these bizarre baby names; and in some cases goes a stage further!

Medieval is ‘in’

Yes, you read that right. According to Netmums, parents desperate to come up with an original name are choosing to go back 400 years in time to pick a name that no one else has come up with.

The results? (bear in mind that these are the POPULAR ones!)

Audley. Peyton. Millicent. Audrey. Cole. Elvina. Wyatt. Kendra.

What’s in a name?

Why has this happened? Well, lots of people are suggesting that it’s all the fault of a TV show.

Since the television show Game of Thrones launched in 2011, the surge in medieval baby names began, and it seems clear that given the popularity of the show, it’s likely to have had an impact on what people choose to name their baby.

Names help me!

Please don’t get the wrong end of the stick, I am not complaining one iota.

In fact, I quite like very individual names. When babies come for photoshoots, I like to create a picture that is full of meaning, and if they’ve got an unusual or a particular evocative name then I find that this often helps to create a scene that takes a great photograph.

For example, if your baby’s called Summer, then we’re hardly going to have her photoshoot in Winter are we?!

Let the unusual names continue!

If your child has got an unusual name or you fancy booking in for one of my photoshoots please feel free to get in touch!
