As much as I enjoy taking photographs in the studio, I also enjoy taking the studio outside, and literally working outside the box! And I think kids prefer it too.
Family photography is part of all my portrait experiences, but as my studio is small I offer this option for family’s with older kids.
The number one thing I enjoy about running family documentary-style photography sessions outdoors is that children warm up to the camera faster when they are outside.
And I get to capture beautiful moments between you and your children, occasionally asking you to hold a pose, but mostly allowing all of you to just be yourselves.
The session booking fee is £95, which includes a £200 credit towards purchasing your favourite artwork. With print portrait collections starting at £525, you can personalise your home beautifully with a small additional investment.

Your photo session. We have photographed lots of families and know how to make beautiful portraits of this chapter of your family, that you will enjoy looking back on.
We’ll send you a prep guide, a few days before, but happy to answer questions.
Please allow up to an hour, and there is plenty of free parking available at my Studio at Parndon Mill, Harlow, Essex, CM20 2HP.
STEP THREE
DISPLAY
About a week after your photo session you’ll return to the studio to view your finished photographs.
Before the appointment, have a think about what you would like to do with your chosen photographs, and measure your walls.
Do you want them printed big for the wall, and/or as a print collection in a handmade portrait box that you can look through at any time?

WALL ART AND PORTRAIT BOXES
TELL YOUR VISUAL STORY
Most clients choose wall art, either as a single portrait or a collection of portraits for their home. For those who prefer not to hang wall art, there’s the option of filling a portrait box with their favourite photos. A final choice combines both options, perfect for when it’s too hard to decide. Additionally, clients can opt to add on digital files for easy sharing with family.

Display your favourite photo or a collection of photos on your wall at home. Hanging portraits at home is a great way to show your children how important they are to you, and they become more of a talking point as they grow.
Portrait Box
Perfect for those that want individual mounted prints. Simply choose your favourite 10, 15 or 20 photographs for display in your portrait box.

Family Photoshoot FAQ’s
What should we wear for our outdoor family photoshoot?
I would dress for comfort and warmth, as outdoor photoshoots tend to be more relaxed, so the clothing should match. As in the studio, it is best to avoid loud patterns or clashing colours.
Where does the outdoor portrait experience take place?
In the private grounds at Parndon Mill, Harlow.
What happens if it rains?
I’ll get wet! No, seriously we’ll review the weather on the day of the portrait experience, and agree on a plan, rescheduling if appropriate. Often the weather does something different to anticipated.
How long will the session last?
Allow up to an hour.
What colour work best for family photos?
It’s best to dress in similar tones. Use nature for your inspiration. If it’s cooler use layers to keep you warm, rather than a bulky coat.

Nestled on the outskirts of Harlow, in open countryside, our studio location is a surprise and delight to many. With plenty of parking, and a beautiful riverside location making for a relaxing place to visit for your portrait photoshoot.
